Originally a Dutch palace built in the 17th century, the property was converted into a hotel by the Syrian Christian family, who have owned it since 1945. It has been certified as a heritage property by the Kerala Government. The restoration that has been carried out on the laterite, limestone, wood-and-tiles building has retained as much of the original as possible. Fort Heritage perfectly blends old-world elegance and modern comforts.

The hotel is small and has only ten spacious air-conditioned rooms furnished with period furniture and paintings of 17th century world masters.
